EducationMy name is Toni. I hold a BA and MA in general psychology and an M.Phil. and Ph.D. in neuropsychology. I have been teaching for nearly 20 years both on-ground and online in psychology and criminal justice departments. Two of my fortes are in teaching statistics for the behavioral sciences and the American Psychological Association's (APA) style of writing. I have authored tutorials on APA format and have chaired and edited papers and theses that use this format.
ExperienceI have tutored others in the SAT (i.e., math & English), and the GRE (psychology, logic, math). I want to tutor the enable our youth to continue their education and to assist them to develop transferable skills for the work force. I use my tutorials as an adjunct to one-on-one tutelage for students to use in between sessions and for additional practice.
HobbiesI am interested in a great many approaches to teaching - including using different media and social media. The modalities I use to tutor, teach, and train others include verbal (i.e., one-on-one), audio (e.g., prerecorded & archived materials), visual (e.g., short films, cartoons, features, etc.), and tactile (e.g., teaching students to calculate numbers with - as well as without - a calculator). I also send students on "empirical" assignments to learn to apply concepts we cover (e.g., shopping for birthday cards for each gender to determine - on their own - how our culture defines gender roles and expectations).
